Dear John Glenn and Wayne Memorial High School Community,

Football Spectator Rules Update

After extensive discussions with our law enforcement agencies and district administration concerning the unfortunate incidents that followed last Friday's football game between our two schools, we have updated our spectator rules for the remaining home football games at both John Glenn and Wayne Memorial High School.

To prioritize the safety of our students, staff, and community, the following rules will be enforced for all remaining home freshman, junior varsity, and varsity football games:

  1. Guest Limitations: All football players, band members, and cheerleaders will be permitted to bring five guests to the games. This includes home and away spectators.
    • a. District staff will be permitted to attend the games, provided they present their district-issued photo identification.
    • b. Wayne Memorial Homecoming court members will also be permitted to bring five guests to the Friday, October 4 game.
    • c. Wayne Memorial alumni band members will also be permitted to attend the Friday, October 4 game. They must check in with the band director upon arrival.
    • d. The Wayne Memorial Homecoming Fair, originally scheduled prior to the game, has been canceled.
  2. Guest Submission: Players, band members, and cheerleaders must submit the names of their guests to their coach or director by Thursday before the game.
  3. Ticket Purchase: All guests listed must purchase a ticket through GoFan, or have a KLAA or family pass and present a photo ID at the entrance.
    • a. If you have already purchased a ticket and do not meet the revised guidelines, please contact your building administrator for a refund.
  4. Adult Supervision: All minors attending the game MUST have an adult present
  5. Spectator Restrictions: No other spectators will be allowed to attend the games until further notice.

These changes have been made in partnership with the Wayne and Westland Police Departments to enhance security and ensure a positive environment for our student-athletes and their families. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your school administration.

Sincerely,

Jennifer Curry
Acting Superintendent
