Virtual Community Forum on Diet Culture, Body Image and Disordered Eating

We would like to remind you of some important upcoming dates, particularly Parent-Teacher Conferences, which will be held virtually. Below, you will find a presentation with links to sign up for time slots with each teacher. The conferences are scheduled for October 16 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM and October 17 from 3:10 to 6:10 PM.

Additionally, please note that the marking period ends on October 25th. We encourage you to check Parent Connect regularly to ensure your student is submitting their work to their teachers. We look forward to connecting with you!

As we embrace the changing season and our fall sports season begins to wind down, we want to take a moment to celebrate the hard work, dedication, and sportsmanship our athletes have shown. Whether it’s the exciting last-minute wins or the teamwork displayed on and off the field, it’s been an incredible season so far!

As our students wrap up their NWEA testing, it’s hard to believe we’re already approaching the end of the marking period!

I am honored to introduce you to our new Assistant Principal, Juliette Abbott! Mrs. Juliette Abbott comes to us from Franklin Middle School with 21 years of high school and middle school classroom experience, having taught theatre, visual arts, social studies, and yoga. She graduated from Central Michigan University with a Bachelor of Science, a Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Aquinas College, and a Master's degree in Educational Administration from the University of Detroit Mercy. In addition to teaching, Mrs. Abbott spent over a decade as the curriculum coordinator for Fine Arts and Electives at Oak Park High School. Mrs. Abbott is delighted to be a member of the Adams family and thanks everyone for their warm welcome.

I need to address an important issue that requires your attention. We need your support in discussing with your children the consequences of making threats and then dismissing them with phrases like "I was just joking" or "I wasn’t being serious." At Adams, we are dedicated to maintaining a safe and nurturing environment for every child, and we approach these matters with the highest level of concern.

Please talk to your children about the real dangers and potential consequences of making false threats. It is crucial for them to understand that such actions are not taken lightly and that the excuse of "I was joking" is not acceptable.

We are including a letter from the Wayne County Prosecuting Office to provide more information and help guide this conversation. Our goal is to ensure that every child feels secure and valued while at Adams. We encourage your children to always reach out to an adult if they are ever in need of support or guidance.

As parents ourselves, we understand the worries you face, and we want to assure you that we are dedicated to maintaining a safe and caring environment for all students. Thank you for your cooperation and for helping us reinforce the importance of safety and respect.

It’s hard to believe we’re entering week four of the school year! Our students have settled into their routines, learning is happening in classrooms, and our student-athletes are working hard. Some teams have even started competing, and we’re proud to share some great news:

• Our boys' soccer team won against Franklin!
• The girls' cross-country team took first place, while the boys’ team earned a close second.
• Volleyball tryouts had an incredible turnout! While we would have loved to keep all the athletes, we had to make some tough cuts. We appreciate everyone's interest and effort.
