Dear Parents and Guardians,
As we enter March here are a few important reminders...
Safety in our parking lot is very important to us. Most families follow the parking lot rules; however we still have some families that are speeding, attempting to pass one another, and showing up late to pick up. Please do not speed or pass the vehicle in front of you. Please be on time to pick up your child!
Dojo is the best form of communication between families and our staff. Please feel free to communicate with any of our staff members through the Dojo app. Parents, if your phone number or address has changed please reach out to our office to let us know so we can make changes in our system.
Playground construction has started and will continue throughout the remainder of this school year. Please remind your students to stay off the grounds that are under construction to ensure safety. Other construction projects such as the building of our new gym, restructuring the front office, removal of all carpet and installation of tile as well as a fresh paint job for the entire interior will start immediately after the last day of school.
Sincerely,
Brandon C. Cox
Principal
Good Evening Wayne-Westland Families,
A solar eclipse will cross North America on Monday, April 8, 2024. Michigan is in the 95% eclipse zone, meaning that certain areas of the state will witness a near-total solar eclipse commencing around 2 p.m., with peak visibility expected after 3 p.m. We want to provide you with some important information about this celestial event and how it will impact our school day.
NOTE: Wayne-Westland Community Schools will have a full school day for all students on Monday, April 8, 2024. We will incorporate educational opportunities related to the solar eclipse into our curriculum to enhance our students' understanding of this phenomenon.

The Engineering Society of Detroit’s Boys in Engineering Academy (BEA) program is a transformative space that empowers primarily boys of color, historically marginalized in STEM fields, to live their best lives. BEA is unique as it focuses on the whole person by integrating STEM learning with a student-centered, hands-on, and project-based approach. BEA scholars are provided access to powerful STEM learning experiences that challenge them to think deeply and critically. As STEM learners, they are empowered to use STEM as a tool for personal and social change.
Cash for Grads Event
As we near the end of the school year, it's exciting for our seniors as they prepare to embark on their next journey. To celebrate their achievements and provide them with valuable opportunities, we're thrilled to announce the upcoming Cash for Grads event at John Glenn High School on April 18, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. We will be giving out $5,000 in scholarships!
