Dear Family Members,

As parents of students with disabilities, we know the challenges and stresses faced by our children and families on a daily basis.

You may feel alone and adrift in a sea of questions about educational programs and plans for your child's future. Please know you are not alone and that we can help with your many questions and concerns about Special Education programs and services.

There are many other families and friends of students with disabilities in Wayne-Westland that can share their experiences. We can help!

We are the Special Angels -- a support group of family and friends in your home district.

Call or stop by for an encouraging word and answers to your questions.

We want you to be an angel, too.

Theresa Beard 734-941-7482

Special Angels Mission Statement

As parents of students with disabilities in Wayne-Westland, we are working with families and care providers to develop an active support network. Through Special Angels, and our liaison with the Wayne County Parent Advisory Committee, the Wayne-Westland Family Resource Center, and the Stottlemyer Early Childhood and Family Development Center, we have shared experiences and have witnessed the progress made by many families of students with disabilities.

It is our mission to develop bonds between families, friends, and staff to assist our children to develop their potential. Our goals are to expand our network and offer encouragement, empathy, and enlightenment to empower our children and families. Together, we will improve the quality of our children's lives and fulfill their dreams.

Each of us has experienced at least one occasion when someone "appeared like an angel" to support, comfort, and help us find solutions. And so, in growing numbers, we are joining together as Special Angels.
