Preschool Programs Information Guide

Early Childhood Services (ECS)
Wayne-Westland Community Schools Early Childhood Services (ECS) Program provides a multi-disciplinary, individualized family focused, service for developmentally delayed infants and toddlers who are zero to three years of age. Students receive a weekly home and center-based program. Services are provided through the Special Education Program housed at the Stottlemyer Early Childhood and Family Development Center.

Head Start
Head Start registration for the Wayne-Westland Community Schools is ongoing at the Stottlemyer Early Childhood and Family Development Center. Children must be 3 or 4 years old by December 1st. Classes meet four half-days per week. Head Start is a free program for low income families who meet specific income guidelines set up by the federal government.

What Head Start Offers You and Your Child?

 A FREE preschool program for children of income eligible families

  •  Part Day Program 8:15-11:45 or 12:30-4:00
  •  A learning environment sensitive to children's individual and group needs
  •  Activities fostering cognitive, emotional, social, and physical development
  •  Inclusion of children with disabilities
  •  A variety of ways for parents to volunteer and participate in their Childs learning
  •  Medical and dental services for children

Kids Plus Preschool (Great Start Readiness Program)
Wayne-Westland Community Schools have ongoing registration for preschool programs housed at the Stottlemyer Early Childhood and Family Development Center. The Kids Plus is a free, state funded program designed for children who will be 4 years old by December 1st, who meet "at risk" factors to qualify, and reside in the Wayne-Westland Community School District. Classes run four half days a week for 32 weeks.

Monday thru Thursday:

  •   AM Session - 8:30-11:00a.m.
  •   PM Session - 12:00-2:30p.m.

Early Childhood Program (ECP)
Wayne-Westland Community Schools offers an Early Childhood Program (ECP) which is designed for developmentally - delayed children who are three to five years of age. This program offers a classroom experience for two and one-half hours, five days per week. Ongoing assessment and reinforcement of the individualized educational plan (IEP) are important components of the classroom.

SPARKEY Preschool
The purpose of the SPARKEY Preschool Program is to improve the readiness and subsequent achievement of children who are 3 and 4 years old by December 1st. The SPARKEY Program is a 30 week tuition-based program for residents and non-residents providing a multi-faceted school experience.

Class times are:

  • Monday/Wednesday: 8:45-11:15 a.m.

  • Monday/Wednesday: 12:15-2:45 p.m.

  • Tuesday/Thursday: 8:45-11:15 a.m.

  • Tuesday/Thursday: 12:15-2:45 p.m.

Tuition: $900.00 per year (5 payments of $180.00)

The first tuition payment is due on or before the Parent Orientation Day.

A $75.00 non-refundable registration fee is due at the time of registration
