The Wayne-Westland Community Schools Board of Education is holding a Public Forum at a Special Meeting to receive the recommendations of the 21st Century Schools Committee. The public is invited to make comments and recommendations regarding proposed school closings and boundary realignments.

District Receives Top Awards

Two Wayne-Westland educational programs received 2009 Education Excellence Awards from the Michigan Association of School Boards. Both "Tech-n-More", a technology training program, and "Freaky Friday", a parent visitation program at the middle schools, will be recognized on May 12, 2009 as exemplary state programs.

Wayne-Westland Teacher Named Best in County

Teacher Jane La Porte was named Elementary Outstanding Teacher of the Year by the Wayne County Regional Educational Services Agency. Mrs. La Porte is a Literacy Leader at Kettering Elementary. She has taught in the Wayne-Westland School District since 1969.
